Fire Damage 10 Ways to Prevent a House Fire in Your Lake Oswego Home If your family has suffered a fire loss, contact the professionals at SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn to learn more about how we can help.

Your home is a sacred space. It a place to raise a family, entertain guest and create lifelong memories. The idea of this special place ever befalling a house fire is frightening.

Life is unpredictable, and it is not always possible to know the future, but there are ways that you, as a homeowner, can be proactive to prevent a house fire in your home.

10 Ways to Prevent a House Fire in Your Lake Oswego Home

  1. Check smoke alarms frequently – According to the US Fire Administration, your smoke alarms should be tested at least once a month and your batteries should be replaced at least twice a year. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
  2. Inspect all sources of heat - Whether it is a central heating system, a wood stove or a space heater, all sources of heat in your home should be checked annually by a professional.
  3. Keep oven and stove top clean and free of debris - A dirty stove can be a fire hazard. The bits of food a debris left behind after you last dinner party can result in disaster if left unchecked. Always keep your cooking area clean and free from potentially flammable materials (oven gloves, plastic utensils, paper towels, etc.)
  4. Do not leave kitchen unattended - It only takes a few seconds for a fire to start. If you need to leave the kitchen, turn off the stove first. A house fire is not worth a few seconds of saved time.
  5. Maintain your clothes dryer - Most dryers should be thoroughly inspected on an annual basis. Dryer hoses can become inundated with flammable lint and should be professionally cleaned at least once a year. Additionally, always keep the lint trap cleaned out and make sure no extra lint or clothing items have become trapped behind your dryer.
  6. Keep electrical cords maintained – Electrical cords can become a fire hazard when they become old and frayed. Always inspect power cords prior to plugging them into a power source.
  7. Store flammable materials safely – Certain household and cosmetic items can become a fire hazard when stored near a heat source such as a space heater or exposed to a hot hair dryer. Use caution when storing these items.
  8. Use candles safely – Although candles are lovely, they can quickly turn disastrous if left unchecked. Make sure to extinguish candles before leaving a room or drifting off to sleep. Always keep your pets away from burning candles.
  9. Use caution when using your fireplace - Do not allow any sparks to escape into the rest of your home. Make sure there is a properly functioning door between the flames and your flooring. A fire should never be left unattended and should be OUT prior to leaving your home for an outing. Additionally, ashes should be disposed of in a metal receptacle designed for that purpose.
  10. Keep fire extinguishers maintained and available – Fire extinguishers are your best defense in the event of an accidental fire. There should be a fire extinguisher available in every room where fire is a potential hazards, particularly in the kitchen and garage. Additionally, all residents of the home should be properly trained on how to operate fire extinguisher.

Fire safety is EVERYBODY’S Job. Losing everything to a house fire is one of the most devastating events that can happen to a family. Your home is filled with lifelong precious memories. You owe to yourself and your family to protect it to the best of your ability.

Pre Vacation Disaster Preparedness

Water Damage Pre Vacation Disaster Preparedness If you ever return from vacation to find your home flooded, call us immediately. 503-635-6233

With the holiday season upon us, many folks are making travel plans and preparing to visit friends and family around the country.

While you are away on vacation, the last thing you want to worry about is water damage to your home. Unfortunately, a water loss can strike at any time, whether or not you are present for it. Here are a few tips you can use to minimize the potential of water damage to your home whilst away.

Quick pre-departure home inspection

After you have bought your plane tickets and packed your luggage, make sure to do a quick inspection around your home for potential problematic areas. Have a look at the pipes under your sinks, look for any issues with your water heater or furnace, inspect the supply lines that connect your major appliances and check the gutters and roof for any leaks, blockages or abnormalities.

This quick step can greatly reduce the potential for damage while you are away and give you peace of mind in the process.

Turn off the water main

An easy way to insure that you have no water related issues while you are away is to simply turn the water main off. It may be days before someone discovers standing water in their home, and turning off the water main on the way out the door will eliminate the potential to find unwanted surprises when they return.

Hire a house sitter

It’s always a good idea to have a trusted friend, family member or neighbor keep an eye on your home while you are away. Even better if they can stop in once or twice a day to make sure everything is in order. Make sure that whoever you choose receives adequate instructions and emergency contact information.

Nobody wants to return to their home after a fun vacation to find water damage, but sometimes, despite best efforts, they can still happen.

If you do return from your vacation to find water damage in your home, stay calm and contact a reputable water restoration contractor such as SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn immediately. The longer you wait, the more there is a chance for secondary damage.

Tips to Mitigate Storm Damage from Structural Defects

10/24/2018 (Permalink)

Storm Damage Tips to Mitigate Storm Damage from Structural Defects If you live in Clackamas county, a storm is ALWAYS brewing. Are you and your family ready?

Storms that dump many inches of rain over the period of just a few hours expose your home to the risk of severe flooding inside your foundation. The causes of these storm-related outcomes focus on the condition and capacity of gutter and downspout systems as well as the possibility of seepage because of the supersaturated ground. Our crews train extensively to respond to these types of conditions, ready to turn back the clock and return your Lake Oswego home to you “Like it never even happened.”

Several days of incessant rains soak the ground surrounding your house. The water finds nowhere to go but through the cinder blocks into your foundation. As the pounding rain rolls off the roof into your gutters, it spills over, sending torrents of water over the edge of your foundation. We have answers to the flood damage afflicting your Portland home, dilemma, and you can almost guarantee yourself a better result if you call for our services immediately without trying to manage the influx of water by yourself.

Our team ascertains if it is safe to work in the flooded basement, and we begin pumping out the water. We hit the ground running even if the power in your home is unavailable to use because of our powerful truck mounted submersible pumps and water extractors. Once the water level reduces, SERVPRO team members assess the condition of any mechanical systems and determine whether stored items or furnishings sustained flood damage. Cinder block walls are notorious for holding water within interior cells. Sophisticated scanning techniques find pockets of water, and we drill through mortar joints to release it. Air movers and dehumidifiers begin the process of drying the walls and floors.

SERVPRO does not leave you high and dry after completion of the job. We consult with you about the reasons for this destructive event. Water incursions through the walls of your foundation signal that the grading around your home may need review. Poorly performing gutters and downspouts may need an upgrade. We also work you through the insurance claim process as storm related flooding frequently is a covered instance.

SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn is poised to perform when you call (503) 635-6233. No disaster is too big or too small for our professionals to lend their training and experience to meet your needs in Lake Oswego, West Linn, or even Marylhurst.

Home Mold Prevention

10/17/2018 (Permalink)

Mold Remediation Home Mold Prevention By the time you notice mold, it may be time to give us a call. 503-635-6233

Clackamas County, Oregon is known for their wet winters, and where there is moisture, there is a potential for mold. Mold can be stopped from growing when it is deprived of warmth and food, but existing mold will remain dormant until it gets adequate warmth, moisture and food. Mold has the ability to withstand far cooler temperatures than is maintained in a home in the wintertime.

When water freezes it expands and can cause cracks in your home and allow water to get into the walls of your home. This additional moisture can instigate mold that may not even be detectable until it’s too late.

Running a heating system can cause the interior of the home to become very dry. Some people combat this issue by implementing a humidifier. If you choose to use a humidifier, make certain that it does not create excessive moisture and that a humidity level of 40% or below is maintained.

Some possible airborne sources of mold can be removed with regular vacuuming and dusting. Attention should be paid to the bathroom and kitchen and areas where excessive moisture is a potential. In less than 24 hours, an unchecked damp area can spur on a full blown mold issue.

The use of area rugs over washable flooring instead of wall to wall carpeting in areas where moisture can become a problem is a good measure to take.  Additionally, it is a bad idea to install carpeting in a highly trafficked entryway, as wet boots and snow can permeate carpeting and become a breeding ground for mold.

Clothes and paper goods can be sources of food for mold. It’s never a good idea to store these items in damp areas like a basement, particularly near walls or on the floor.

Windows should be properly sealed. Warm air can consolidate on cool glass and permeate into cracks. Mold can form in spaces or cracks on your windows if they are not properly sealed.

Make certain that your gutters and downspouts are clean and in proper working order. The purpose of a gutter system is to divert water away from your home and its foundation. If water is being allowed to pool around your home’s foundation, consider extending your downspouts.

Bathrooms and kitchens utilize exhaust fans to vent moisture out of the area. These fans should NOT exhaust into an attic or crawlspace, as the trapped moisture can create mold. Check your exhaust fans and make sure they are properly ventilated.

Running a dehumidifier in your basement crawlspace is a good preventative measure to prevent mold, as is lining the exposed ground with waterproof polyethylene plastic.

If you discover that you have a mold problem in your home, or if you suspect one, SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn can help. We are trained mold damage specialists with specific training and certifications to handle your restoration needs. We invest in the latest equipment to restore your home or business quickly and effectively. Call us today for a consultation. 503-635-6233

4 Steps To Fire Smell Removal

10/9/2018 (Permalink)

Fire Damage 4 Steps To Fire Smell Removal The smoke is gone but the smell continues to linger. SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn can help!

Have you recently had a small, non-emergency or life threatening fire in your Lake Oswego home? Maybe you had a minor kitchen fire mishap or perhaps a few of your decorative holiday lights sparked a little flame that you had to douse with water or maybe your clothes dryer malfunctioned. You managed to get the fire out with minimal damage, but now you are left with a persistent smoke smell throughout your home that just doesn’t want to go away.

Every fire scenario has its own set of challenges contingent on the severity of the fire. The size and temperature of the fire will dictate how easily the smoke odor can be removed. Higher temperatures will cause the pores of the surrounding material to open up and absorb more odor. Proper post fire odor removal requires a battery of techniques that include cleaning, deodorizing and sealing the materials in question.

Here are the 4 steps to removing odor after a fire:

Step 1- Removal and proper disposal of all burned and charred materials. If the materials remain, so will the smell. If some of the materials cannot be removed, such as structural members, a sealant will need to be applied to lock in the odors.

Step 2- Installation of air filtration device, equipped with a carbon activated system. HEPA filters are not adequate to remove smoke smell. Carbon filters are needed to absorb and trap the gasses and odors.

Step 3- Thoroughly clean all affected and surrounding areas. Wet cleaning or the use of water should be avoided at this stage. All soots and dust will need to be removed. A shop vac or comparable unit should be used in this stage. After the larger particles have been removed, a thorough dry- chem sponge (available at most hardware stores) cleaning should be done.

Step 4- Spray deodorizers throughout the affected area. The goal of this step is to penetrate the pores of the affected surfaces with a quality deodorizing agent. A product specifically designed for smoke damage should be employed during this step. Follow the instructions that come with the product. The product should be allowed to absorb into the affected area and do its job. When the chemical has had a chance to dry, you should be able to quickly assess the situation and see (smell?) if these steps were adequate to remove the unwelcome smell in your home. If the smell continues to linger, you may have a bigger problem than you anticipated. The fire may have burned hotter and more severely, causing the smell to get into harder to reach areas and structural members. A professional should be contacted. Your home may require a thermal fogging treatment.

For larger fires, or even a small fire that leaves a persistent and lingering smoke smell despite your best efforts to remove them, a reputable fire restoration contractor should be contacted. Here at SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn, we see all sorts of fire disasters and our crew of experts are available 24/7 to address your particular fire related disaster. Call us today to schedule an appointment. We are always here to help. 503-635-6233

How Rain Water Can Affect Your Home's Foundation

9/11/2018 (Permalink)

Water Damage How Rain Water Can Affect Your Home's Foundation Is your home's foundation safe from settling?

The Lake Oswego area sees a lot of precipitation, and when we get a call from a homeowner after major rainfall, we often see damaged foundations. It’s more than just a cosmetic issue or risks associated with mold. Water can affect the structural integrity of your home’s foundation. Here are a few ways how water can wreak havoc on your foundation.

Saturated Soil: Water can accumulate around your home and cause the surrounding soil to loosen, making it easier for water to penetrate into you home. One way to help combat this problem in your home is to make sure your gutters and downspouts are clean and in proper working order.

Erosion of Soil: Water that is not diverted away from your home may cause the supporting soil to erode away. This can cause your home to settle. This problem may take years to surface. Some subtle signs to look for are cracks in the drywall or plaster, leaning chimneys and uneven floors. In the aftermath of a flood, a thorough inspection by a qualified technician should be performed to insure that your home has not started to settle.

Buildup of Hydrostatic Pressure: Hydrostatic pressure occurs when the soil surrounding your foundation becomes oversaturated. This excessive pressure can cause the walls of your foundation to press inward and cause bowing and cracking. This can happen over time or suddenly after a heavy rain storm.

Generally speaking, homeowners rarely think about their home’s foundation until it has become noticeably damaged. By that time, it may already be too late and result in costly repairs that may have been diverted with some attention to detail and preventative maintenance. If you suspect that you home’s foundation has become compromised, call the experts at SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn today to discuss your options. 503-635-6233

Why You Need a Professional Fire Restoration Company

9/5/2018 (Permalink)

Fire Damage Why You Need a Professional Fire Restoration Company Think twice before attempting to perform the work of a fire restoration professional.

If your West Linn home was recently involved in a fire, you may be hoping to handle the situation yourself to save some money and avoid costly repairs. Unfortunately, the variables and complexities involved with fire restoration may be a bit much for the layman. Below, we explore several reasons why it is in your best interest to hire a reputable fire restoration contractor such as SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn.

Health & Safety

You may feel that you are free from danger after the flames have been extinguished. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

When plastic, textiles, rubber and finished wood burns, it creates soot that contains many toxic particulars.

Particles containing asbestos, tar, formaldehyde, ammonia and other harmful materials float through the air and are not always visible to the naked eye. Exposure to these materials should be avoided, as they can cause a number of health problems ranging from asthma all the way to bronchitis and cancer.

During the cleanup process, exposure to these particles are at its highest, but unless the area has been cleaned adequately by a professional, adverse health effects of the smoke can persist for years to come. It’s not worth the risk to you or your family.

Specialized Equipment Is Needed

Some rags and a bottle of degreaser is not adequate enough to clean up after a fire disaster. Soot cannot merely be wiped away. All surfaces will need to be deep cleaned to eliminate the health risks and caustic odors lingering throughout the area. Professional tools and knowledgeable technicians with proper training are needed to thoroughly and safely restore the area.

It is also of note that washing smoke damaged clothing and textiles in a standard consumer level washing machine can potentially cause more damage and leave unwanted odors in your machine. Dry cleaning is your best option if you wish to salvage clothing that has been in a fire.

You Could Unintentionally Dispose of Salvageable Items & Valuables

An untrained layman could potentially throw out items that appear to be beyond repair or restoration. SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn utilizes advanced recovery techniques and employs a full time contents department dedicated to restoring damaged valuables after a fire disaster and has a state of the art facility outfitted with specialized equipment designed specifically for this purpose. In addition to restoring your salvageable items, the items deemed unsalvageable will be disposed of in a proper manor, minimizing unwanted health hazards.

The Process of Restoration is Complicated

Restoring your home or business to a preloss condition is not as straightforward as it initially appears. There are contents to salvage and dispose of, cleaning and abating and structural repair. Additionally, insurance claims will need to be navigated to decrease the financial impact of the damage. Efforts to save a buck by attempting this work yourself could potentially cost more money if salvageable items are disposed of and insurance claims are not properly handled. A trustworthy and reputable fire restoration contractor who is familiar with the ins and outs of the entire process of restoration is a far better option.

SERVPRO Techniques for Odor Removal After a Water Loss

9/5/2018 (Permalink)

Water Damage SERVPRO Techniques for Odor Removal After a Water Loss After water has been removed, SERVPRO performs an aromatic treatment.

Water damage to your living room happens in the blink of an eye. It only takes a leak from an upstairs bathroom, and before you know it, you are struggling with water-logged carpets, wet furniture, and damp walls and floors.

SERVPRO is on hand to remove water immediately and remediate the water damage to your Lake Oswego home so you can resume daily life “Like it never even happened.” However, there is more to remediation than drying out the affected area: There is also the question of how to remove the unpleasant damp smell afterward.

Although water is odorless, water-logged rooms can soon start to give off a nasty, musty odor that makes the house smell bad. Clients have told us their biggest challenges following a water damage event is the lingering smell. That is why we train our technicians to tackle any residual odors and leave your home smelling as fresh and clean as it did before the incident.

Air scrubbers are very useful for dealing with damp smells. The machine draws in contaminated air and passes it through true HEPA filtration. HEPA filters are capable of catching particles down to 0.3 microns, thus removing smells and releasing clean air back into the room.

Wet fogging is useful for getting into all the little nooks and crannies where odors hide. We choose the most appropriate product to deodorize your affected areas, and the fogging machine releases the product as a very fine mist which penetrates even hard to reach corners.

Our IICRC-certified technicians know that it is important to check for small, hidden sources of damp smells. Sometimes there is a patch of carpet or a couch cushion that, despite being completely dry, smells a little bit musty. In such cases, we can hand spray disinfectant onto the affected area, or even inject small amounts of the product if spraying or other methods are not practical. For example, if it is not possible to lift up a wet carpet, it is possible to inject deodorization products into it to remove the smell and freshen the carpet.

SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn understands the importance of restoring your home quickly. That is why we end every deodorization session by positioning powerful venting box fans to help remove odors and ensure your room smells fresh once more.

For help removing damp smells from your home, call SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn at (503) 635-6233 today.

Dealing with a water damage disaster at your Portland business is never convenient. SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn understands the urgency and sensitivity of this situation. When faced with a potentially door closing flooding disaster, it is important to stay calm, use clear judgment and act FAST. We have put together a few tips that can be helpful in this stressful situation and make the process of restoration go a lot more smoothly.

Stay Prepared

Broken plumbing, sewage backups, and heavy rains can strike at any time. If you have a plan in place for such unfortunate events, it will greatly reduce the panic, stress and pain for everyone involved. Investing in sandbags, air brick protection and back up water pumps could help your business save a lot in the long run. It almost goes without saying, but making sure your insurance policy is up to date is absolutely crucial.

When the flood strikes

There are a number of safety measures you may be able to take during the storm. Floodwater can be very powerful and has the ability to cause bodily harm. Do not attempt to walk through flowing floodwater. Assess the situation and insure that no water has the potential to come in contact with electricity. If it is safely accessible, turn off your main power breaker. Rubber gloves and boots are also a good idea in this situation. If you are not sure of the safe way to proceed, wait for a trained professional to arrive and take the proper measures.

As mentioned before, electricity should be turned off. Additionally, you should be aware of where you main water shut off is located. This will be crucial if the flooding is due to an internal plumbing failure.

After these steps are taken, you should contact your insurance provider and then a reputable and trustworthy restoration company. SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn specializes in the cleanup and restoration of both residential and commercial property after a water disaster. Mold & Your Health

8/1/2018 (Permalink)

Mold Remediation Mold & Your Health Some of the most harmful mold is the mold that you can't see.

Many West Linn homeowners may not even be aware of the mold in their home, particularly if it is unusual looking. Mold can be white and thread like or it can appear as clusters of small black spots. Mold can vary in color and may be black, greyish brown, green or white. There is even mold that is pinkish in color.

Sometimes the only evidence of hidden mold in your home is a musty smell. This indicator should not be ignored. Just because mold is out of sight, does not mean that it is not able to cause harm and damage.

Mold tends to flourish in warm, damp & humid areas. Leaky basements and crawlspaces are prime areas for mold growth. Mold feeds on wet organic materials found in carpet, drywall, insulation and wood and releases spores. Exposure to these spores can cause several health problems in both humans and pets.

Mold commonly poses health problems invlolving the respiratory system. Sneezing, coughing, rashes, irritated eyes and fatigue are also common among those who have had chronic exposure to mold in their homes. It is important to the physical health of all occupants that mold is dealt with as soon as possible.

Long term mold exposure is especially problematic for elderly people, infants and small children and those with allergies and pre-existing respiratory problems.

Mitigating your mold problem immediately can spare your family of its harmful effects. If you see or smell mold in your home, the experts at SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn are here to help. Call us today to set up a consultation with one of our technicians. 503-635-6233

Summertime Fire Safety Tips

7/30/2018 (Permalink)

Fire Damage Summertime Fire Safety Tips Summertime means campfires and outdoor cooking. Stay safe to avoid a potential disaster!

Summer is finally here! For a lot of us in the Pacific Northwest, this is the best time of the year. After months of rain and dark, Lake Oswego residents can finally come out of hibernation and enjoy some much anticipated sunshine. With the summer comes some of our favorite activities, such as outdoor grilling, fireworks and bonfires. No matter where you enjoy your summer activities, safety should always be a high priority. Preventing a fire accident is far easier than investing in fire and water restoration in the aftermath of such an accident. We’ve put together a few tips to make your summer activities not only fun and memorable, but also safe.

  1. Always have water or a fire extinguisher on hand. When you are having a campfire, or backyard fire pit, it’s always a good idea to keep a bucket of water or hose nearby. Sometimes sparks and flammable materials can fly out of the fire. Having water nearby means you will be able to respond quickly to keep the fire under control.
  1. Fireworks should only be used under adult supervision. Everyone loves sparklers and pinweels, but the reality is, they can be very dangerous in the wrong hands. Keep a close eye on children when fireworks are involved. It only takes a split second for a fun fourth of July to turn into a life altering disaster. Additionally, never try to relight faulty fireworks or sparklers. All fireworks and sparklers should be disposed of in a bucket of water.
  1. Maintain your gas or charcoal grill. Over time, grease and other flammable materials can build up on your grill. To help prevent a possible grease fire, always maintain your grills and keep them clean.
  1. Survey your surroundings prior to lighting a fire or grill. Make sure there is nothing flammable directly adjacent to the fire. This includes deck railings, branches, dry grass or wood. You should also NEVER start a grill indoors or directly under your home’s eaves or soffits. Additionally, when starting a camp fire, take care to clear the area around where you will be starting the fire and make certain there are no dry materials that could catch fire from a nearby spark. Check your local municipalities to ensure that a campfire ban in not in effect in your area.
  1. Always completely extinguish a fire or grill. When you are finished with your fire or using your grill, always make certain that it is completely out. Grills and fires can quickly become a serious disaster when left unsupervised.

Fires, grilling and fireworks are all a part a fun summertime experience, but remember to be smart and safe so that everyone can have an enjoyable experience. SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn wishes everyone a safe and happy summer having fun and making memories. If you follow these tips, you may never need to call us for fire restoration, but do remember, we are always here when you need us. 503-635-6233

Air Quality, Moisture, Mold & You

7/24/2018 (Permalink)

Mold Remediation Air Quality, Moisture, Mold & You Humidity levels should be regularly tested and regulated to make sure your West Linn home is safe from mold growth.

One of the biggest factors in mold and the proliferation of its growth is the level of humidity in the surrounding environment. Mold has the potential to grow anywhere moisture is present.

You may not be aware that not only can excess moisture in the air cause mold, it can also be a catalyst for air pollution as well. That cold musty smell that often accompanies mold growth is a tell-tale sign that the surrounding air has become contaminated. The relationship between mold and air quality is even more complicated. If mold is present, unhealthy particles will permeate into the air you breathe, and damp areas will cause water vapor which encourages further microbial activity, resulting in continued mold growth. The end result is a vicious cycle. This cause and effect scenario illustrates the importance of humidity in the home as it pertains to air quality.

It is a good idea to monitor the humidity levels of your home, particularly if you live in a wet climate such as the Lake Oswego, Oregon area. The consensus among experts and professionals is that indoor humidity levels should be between 30 and 50 percent, with an ideal level being approximately 45 percent. These readings can be obtained with a hygrometer, which is an inexpensive instrument that any homeowner would be wise to familiarize themselves with, especially if they live here in the Pacific Northwest.

If you sense that your home has a mold or air quality problem, the professionals at SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn can help you bring the air quality in your home back to healthy levels. Call us today for a consultation. We are a leader in mold remediation are use time honored and scientifically sound methods to get the job done right and give you and your family peace of mind. Fire Damage In Your West Linn Kitchen

7/23/2018 (Permalink)

Fire Damage Fire Damage In Your West Linn Kitchen Even if a kitchen fire blazes for only a short time and efforts to extinguish it succeed, the smoke can ruin your kitchen.

A favorite activity of many residents in West Linn, cooking lets us show off our skill and our personalities. It also brings friends and family together, teaches our children a vital but fundamental skill, and promotes our health.

West Linn part-time chefs can protect their kitchens from fire damage by exercising caution when frying foods. Oils can quickly ignite, creating instantaneous flames that can spread quickly. If this happens, turn off the stove's burners as quickly as possible. Using water in attempts to extinguish such fires rarely ends well. Instead, cover the pot to suffocate the flames, or toss several boxes of baking soda on a blazing skillet, which can extinguish the fire, if you act quickly enough.

However, it takes a tremendous amount of baking soda to accomplish this feat. The mistaken use of baking powder, or worse, flour, can create even more problems, as these ignite when exposed to too much heat. Smoking heavily, oil gives off a warning sign when becoming too hot, so reducing the temperature can effectively prevent a grease fire.

Even if a kitchen fire blazes for only a short time and efforts to extinguish it succeed, the smoke can ruin your kitchen. However, the technicians at SERVPRO combine extensive experience with intensive training, so your home always receives the protection it deserves. We can clean your kitchen and adjacent areas in your home, so it sparkles once again. Making homes feel clean and bright again, so homeowners feel “Like it never even happened.” makes our work fulfilling and highly worthwhile.

At times, structural damage to the home occurs because of a fire that raged out of control and spread, but we are always ready for such disasters. Cleaning these situations up to restoring your home through repairs or replacements makes it safe once again to enjoy cooking and providing others with delicious food from your kitchen. Removing the sooty deposits means no malodorous remnants remain to ruin the taste of your food, either.

SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn can be contacted at our local number, (503) 635-6233, any day of the year, and at any hour. We care about those in our community and helping ensure that each family can engage in their daily activities without interruption remains one of our goals.

Water Damage & Homeowners Insurance

7/19/2018 (Permalink)

Water Damage Water Damage & Homeowners Insurance In the event of a water emergency, do you know if your Lake Oswego home is covered?

A water loss is a very common calamity and a fact of life for many homeowners. Insurance policies can give you peace of mind, but many times, homeowners may not be aware of what is and what is NOT covered in their policy until it’s too late. We review seven common potential water related disaster scenarios below. You may want to update your policy accordingly after reviewing this article.

Broken pipe due to freezing

During the winter months, temperatures can reach extremes that can freeze the water in your pipes and cause them to burst. Most home owner’s policies cover this type of damage unless it was caused by negligence. An example of this would be if you left your home unoccupied and without heat.

Swimming pool leak that results in damage to your basement and lawn

Generally speaking, swimming pool leaks will not be covered in your homeowner’s policy unless the leak was the result of a falling tree. Damage to your basement and personal belongings is usually covered but damage to your lawn is generally not.

Appliance failure

Water damage from a failing appliance, such as an overflowing washing machine or broken toilet is covered if the issue is accidental and not the result of negligence. If you have failed to maintain your appliances and supply hoses, and this results in damage, it will not be covered.

Sewage back up

Although sewage backups are not covered by most standard home owner policies, additional endorsements may be added to the policy for this purpose. If the sewage back up was caused at a city level, you should contact the appropriate authorities in your municipality to discuss your options.

Natural disasters and storms

Damage incurred from floods are not covered in standard homeowner insurance policies. This includes intruding water from overflowing rivers, lakes or seawater, in addition to storms. If you require protection from this type of damage, you will need to get it separately in addition to your standard policy. Check with you insurance agent to find out your options.

Water seepage from ground water beneath your basement

This type of damage is considered a maintenance issue and is not covered in standard homeowner’s insurance policies.

Leakage through roof during or after a rainstorm

If your roof has not been properly maintained, this type of damage will not be covered. However, damage to your belongings may be covered, depending on the type of insurance policy you have. It is always a good idea to perform preventative maintenance to your home, especially if you live in an area with high precipitation, such as the Lake Oswego/ West Linn and Pacific Northwest area in general.

A lot of homeowners are unsure how to handle mold growth in their home as it pertains to their insurance policy. It is good to educate yourself on this type of claim prior to it occurring.

If you experience a flood in your home or discover that you have a mold issue, call SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn at 503-635-6233 immediately to get the remediation process underway as soon as possible. We also deal with insurance companies on a daily basis and can help you navigate your claim. We are always here to help.

Fire Fighting Efforts Can Cause Secondary Mold Damage

3/13/2018 (Permalink)

Mold Remediation Fire Fighting Efforts Can Cause Secondary Mold Damage As the threat of extensive damage reduces through fire-fighting efforts, the possibility of mold damage developing is rarely considered.

As the threat of extensive damage reduces through fire-fighting efforts, the possibility of mold damage developing is rarely considered. Once you step back and consider how much water is used to control a blaze or reduce the possibility that fire takes off in your home you understand that secondary water-accelerated mold damage can become a crisis in its own right.

Mold damage basics in Lake Oswego, as elsewhere, emphasize that where standing water or residual dampness remains unabated for just a couple of days, microbial growth is almost inevitable. Our area of Oregon is one of the wettest in the country, and the 73.2 percent average ambient moisture can by itself support mold growth. Add water-based firefighting efforts, and it is not surprising that area homeowners so often seek our mold remediation skills.

If mold damage does take hold in your home, abating it becomes as important as cleaning up soot or smoke damage. SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn offers full-service restoration, able to handle your water damage issues, smoke and soot cleanup, as well as providing the mold remediation protocols developed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Your reliance upon our ability to respond professionally and successfully whatever your restoration needs is well-founded. Our technicians train in a broad variety of strategies and methodologies supported by courses developed with the backing of the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC), an international restoration industry standards-setting organization.

Expect the mold damage remediation process to emphasize the safety of you and your family as well as the professionals providing the services. SERVPRO technicians wear full personal protective gear during the abatement and contain the moldy areas with physical barriers and modern technologies, like negative pressure air scrubbers, preventing particles from contaminating mold growth-free areas of your home. Any porous materials infiltrated by mold growth will be removed along with the mold colonies, and the infested items disposed of according to local codes for hazardous waste.

Final mold remediation steps include sanitization with professional grade antimicrobials matched to the fungal growth and a careful consideration of the water incursion that activated the mold in the first place. Any water or moisture remaining after all restoration services complete can contribute to another wave of mold growth. The water and fire damage efforts must completely eradicate excess moisture issues to prevent further mold damage.

Often home restoration is a complicated matter, and SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn has the skills, experience, and trained technicians to manage mold, water, and fire damage issues, as well as other. Call (503) 635-6233 to set your individualized remediation processes in motion.

As the sun starts to peak its head around the corner, many northwest residents start their gardens and begin to make plans to get out in the much anticipated sunshine. What To Do After a House Fire

3/7/2018 (Permalink)

Fire Damage What To Do After a House Fire SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn can help you navigate the sometimes scary situations after a house fire. We are always here to help.

A house fire can be one of the most devastating events to occur in the life of a homeowner. In an attempt to save money, insurance companies will actively look for ways to penny-pinch fire insurance claims. It is likely you have lost a tremendous amount of personal belongings and have suffered a substantial amount of mental anguish. You don’t need an insurance company giving you grief about your claim. Here are a few tips that you can proactively implement in the event of a fire loss.

Review your policy

You may have replacement coverage for you home, but it may only be for “actual cash value” for your lost personal items. Upon contacting your insurance company, the agent should be able to tell you about this and may suggest purchasing an endorsement to ensure that your personal belongs will, in fact be covered under a replacement policy.

Secure Your Property

Most homeowner’s coverage policies require the insured to make reasonable efforts to minimize secondary damage to their property. Without getting overly complicated, this is what is known as your duty to mitigate damages. These are usually simple items such as covering exposed areas with plastic or shutting off the water main in the event of a burst pipe. It is likely that you will be reimbursed for any expense incurred when you start your claim.

Immediately File Your Claim.

All homeowner policies require that you report the damage as soon as possible. Your first step is to submit a “proof of loss” claim to your agent. This document will consist of an itemized list your losses and the value of each item. The longer you put off this step, the longer it will take your insurance company to send an adjuster to address your claim.

Record Your Living Expenses

All homeowner’s policies contain a “loss of use” clause which entitles the insured to be reimbursed for additional living expenses incurred while their home is uninhabitable. Be mindful that these expenses only include additional living expenses, meaning the difference between your normal expenses and what it is costing you while you are kept from your home. An example of this would be If your families normal food budget is $600, but due to your circumstance, your family spends $750 in a week by going out to eat, you can claim that additional $150.

Fire damage remediation is a long process, and navigating your insurance can prove to be difficult without the correct knowledge. Regardless of if you have experienced a small kitchen fire or a complete burn down, you will need an experienced restoration company to help assess the damage. SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn is ready when fire strikes, 24/7. Our team of highly trained, IIRC certified professionals see this every day. Let us be your partner on the road to recovery. Causes of Commercial Water Damage

3/6/2018 (Permalink)

Commercial Causes of Commercial Water Damage We hope you NEVER come to work to find this scenario! If you do, you know EXACTLY who to call. SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn has your back!

When a business owner imagines water damage, their mind might immediately go to a catastrophic storm that takes down trees and power lines, closes blocks of infrastructure and causes business closure. It is true that a good percentage of commercial water loss is caused by heavy rains and storms, particularly here in the wet climate of Clackamas County, but that is far from the only cause of commercial water loss. Here at SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn, we see the full spectrum of water damage on a daily basis. Below are a few common causes of water damage that we’ve seen that can affect your business.

Improperly Functioning Sprinkler System

As buildings age, their fire protection systems can become outdated and worn out. According to the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), your sprinkler system’s internal piping system should be checked every 5 years. NFPA 25 outlines an industry standard inspection schedule. A fire protection system is crucial to any commercial building, but a malfunctioning system can cost your business in both damages, as well as business closures.

Broken Appliances or Equipment

This poses an issue in restaurant or catering industries, but can also affect any facility that uses appliances or tools that utilize water. A failing appliance can cause substantial damage, particularly if it fails on the off hours while your business is closed. A regular inspection of your appliances can save your business a lot of time and money.

Pipes & Plumbing

As in any building, broken and failing plumbing can result in water damage. Older buildings tend to be more susceptible to this sort of damage.

Sewer Line Back Up

We have previously covered some of the causes of sewage back up here. Sewage and other “Black Water” accidents can cause health effects and wreak havoc on your building and the products and furnishings therein. Special equipment and training is necessary when dealing with this sort of commercial water damage. Do not attempt to clean this sort of damage yourself.

If your business has encountered any of these scenarios, especially one that involves Black Water, call the professionals at SERVPRO Lake Oswego/ West Linn today. Our team is  IIRC certified and can get your business back up and running fast. 503-635-6233

The Cause of Sewage Back Up

3/2/2018 (Permalink)

Water Damage The Cause of Sewage Back Up A bit of preventative maintenance can go a long way when it comes to your Lake Oswego home's sewer/ drainage system.

Black water is defined as any floodwater containing contaminants or viruses that can potentially cause illness or infection. Sewage would qualify as Black water. Any event of sewage back up needs to be addressed immediately. Arming yourself with the knowledge of what causes a sewage back up may help you prevent this occurrence at you home.

Causes of Sewage Back Up

  • Clogging – When your home’s main sewer line or drain pipe’s become clogged, there is potential for a sewage back up. An example of this would be if one toilet creates a sewage back up, the drain connected to that particular toilet has become clogged. If all of the toilets in your home begin to back flow, this is a signal that your main sewage line has become clogged. Clogs are caused by solid materials, such as hair or grease.
  • Plant Roots – A tree’s root system has the potential to intertwine with sewage lines. Roots can grow into pipes and make holes in it and can also grow around the pipes and potentially crush them. Roots from nearby trees can also travel to your sewage line and cause damage.
  • Aging Sewer Lines – Pipes used to be made of easily deteriorating materials such as cast iron and clay. Older systems made with these materials have the potential to break down and split, causing backups and flooding. Fortunately, durable plastic materials have become the plumbing standard.
  • Heavy Rains – Sudden heavy rainfall can overwhelm Lake Oswego's sewage system. If a public sewage system can’t withstand a sudden influx of rainwater, the excess water may travel into adjacent sewer lines. This can put your home at risk for backflow.

Preventing Backup at Your Home

  • NEVER pour cooking grease down your drain. Oil can harden inside of your pipes as it cools and clog your pipes. The proper way to dispose of cooking grease is to pour it into a heat resistant container and place the container in the trash when it cools off.
  • Do not flush paper products. Paper towels, diapers and feminine hygiene products have no business being flushed down the toilet and can very easily clog your drainage system. Dispose of these items properly of risk potential backups later.
  • Update the pipes in your drainage system or remove tree roots. A good preventative measure to avoid costly repairs later is to replace your lead or clay sewer lateral pipe (the line in your yard) with an updated plastic pipe. It is also good to cut the tree roots back as they grow near your drainage system.
  • Consider installing a backwater prevention valve. This fixture can prevent sewage from backing up into your home. Typically, backwater prevention valves are installed into a sewer line and sometimes into the basement drain line.

Get the mold out of your Lake Oswego home before it spreads!

2/20/2018 (Permalink)

Mold Remediation Get the mold out of your Lake Oswego home before it spreads! Got Mold? Call the pros at SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn before it spreads! 503-635-6233

With the consistently damp weather conditions, most Lake Oswego homeowners will have a run in with mold in their home. A small little spot in the shower that can be quickly wiped up is nothing to be too concerned about and is a part of general home maintenance. However, if you have detected spreading patches of mold, accompanied with a foul or musty odor that causes the area to feel dank and uncomfortable, it could very well indicate a much more serious condition. If you are faced with this particular problem, then it may be time to call in the experts at SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn to ensure the caustic and potentially hazardous material has been completely removed.

Containment

The professionals at SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn can help to determine if the mold in your home will require ‘containment’ and how extensive it should be. Depending on how severe of a problem the mold in your home is and what type of spores are found, the containment can be a relatively small area, and in rare cases, can sometimes require a temporary relocation during the remediation process.

The majority of informed homeowners take action while the mold is in an early stage, prior to spreading and becoming a much bigger concern.  The professionals at SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn will quarantine the contaminated area so that movement cannot dislodge and distribute mold spores to unaffected areas of the structure. State of the art equipment will be set up to dry, repair, and treat the tainted space.

The End Result

Here at SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn, our goal is to make it "Like it never even happened.” and to restore your property to pre-mold condition. Our restoration team has a proven track record of eliminating the problem the majority of the time. In some severe cases, this may not always be possible, but this is the exception and not the rule.

If there is one take away from this article, is to address the problem AS SOON as it is detected. Ignoring the problem will not make it go away, and only increases the opportunity for mold to move into the walls and the floor. Once this occurs, the problem become much more difficult and costly to eliminate. As the old saying goes; “an ounce of protection is worth a pound of cure”.

Lake Oswego's Soot & Fire Remediation Specialists

1/18/2018 (Permalink)

Fire Damage Lake Oswego's Soot & Fire Remediation Specialists Extensive soot and fire damage in West Linn Daycare

Following a structure fire, much of the damage caused by smoke and soot is not immediately detectable and can remain hidden inside the walls and in cracks and crevices throughout the building. The crew at SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn has the training and expertise to methodically investigate and appraise the contamination and develop and effective and efficient remediation strategy.

Smoke and soot residue:

  • Sweltering smoke tends to transmigrate to cooler areas and rises to the top of the building.
  • Smoke will infiltrate into plumbing systems, moving from floor to floor indiscriminately through conduits and ducts throughout the walls of the structure.
  • Different categories of smoke can influence the cleaning and rehabilitation process.

Categories of Smoke

Generally speaking, smoke will either fall under two categories; wet or dry. Consequently, there are different categories of soot residue following a structure fire. Prior to commencement, SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn will perform an analysis on the soot residue to ascertain the category of smoke damage in the home. A specific cleaning plan will then be developed utilizing the data collected during pretesting. Some additional information regarding smoke residue:

Wet smoke – oil based compounds (plastics/ rubber)

  • Lower heat, prone to smoldering, foul smelling, glutinous and tacky, waxy. Wet smoke can create “smoke webs” which are more difficult to clean.

Dry Smoke – organic materials (paper/ wood)

  • Burns quickly at high temperatures. Heat rises and consequently, so does smoke.

Protein Fire Residue – Caused by evaporation of materials as a result of the fire’s heat

  • Practically invisible. Causes discoloration of painted and finished surfaces. Intense pungent stench.

Our Fire Restoration Services

Due to the variances and unpredictable nature of a structure fire, each situation demands a particular solution and course of action to accommodate that particular scenario. SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn stands at the forefront of the fire restoration service industry in terms of time honored expertise and experience as well as state of the art remediation equipment. Lake Oswego's flooded basement specialists

1/17/2018 (Permalink)

Water Damage Lake Oswego's flooded basement specialists This flooded basement was no match for our team!

Although a basement can flood at any time, flooding most often occurs during heavy rainfall. Because of the nature of basements, they are inherently prone to flooding. Here are a few reasons why your Lake Oswego basement could flood.

  • Due to heavy rains, surface water can pool around the perimeter of your home.
  • Foundation drainage system failure of blockage.
  • Water supply line breakage/ freezing or hot water tank failure.
  • Blockage or failure of sewage lateral pipe.
  • Sump pump failure.
  • Storm drain failure.
  • Backup of sanitary sewer.

This list is not intended to be exhaustive, as there are many unknown factors that could cause flooding.

The flooding in this Lake Oswego basement was caused by surface water around the home. The Lake Oswego/ West Linn area had received a substantial amount of precipitation, causing the groundwater around the perimeter of the basement to swell, resulting in about 6 inches of standing water in the basement.

Within an hour of being contacted by the customer, our crew was onsite ready to begin the remediation process. Utilizing advanced inspection and monitoring equipment, we were able to completely dry the basement within 4 days. Additionally, our contents department was able to salvage much of the customers belongings as well.

To avoid severe damage to your home’s structure, as well as secondary damage caused by mold, water damage needs to be handled quickly and efficiently. The problem will not go away with time. Protect Important Documents From Flood Damage In West Linn

11/22/2017 (Permalink)

Storm Damage Protect Important Documents From Flood Damage In West Linn Willamette River Flooding? West Linn Area Residents Rely on SERVPRO for Help

Storms and Water Damage, SERVPRO Says Plan Ahead

Homeowners around the country know that the risk of flood damage is real. It only takes inclement weather, a broken downpipe, a leaky roof or a broken appliance to flood your home and cause extensive damage. SERVPRO believes that planning is key to handling a household crisis, and a critical area of planning documents protection. Here is our advice for protecting essential papers in your West Linn home.

We live in an age where people bank, update their insurance, make payments and even apply for jobs online. However, it is still a good idea to protect essential documents from flood damage in West Linn. After all, many documents are expensive, complicated, or nearly impossible to replace.

What is an important document? We recommend including the following: Personal papers such as birth and marriage certificates, all insurance policies, documents relating to your home and utilities, identity documents such as passports and social security, stock and bond certificates, medical information, and any end-of-life paperwork such as wills.

The first step is gathering all essential paperwork into one place. It is a good idea to create two backups of each piece of paper – one electronic one on a USB stick or online and one paper photocopy.

Store one set of papers (either originals or photocopies) in a watertight lockable metal box. A sturdy box keeps everything together and ensures that in the event of flood damage it is easy to grab your essential documents and move them. You also benefit from your paperwork being tidier on a daily basis!

Keep the second set of papers elsewhere. A rented safe deposit box at a bank is a good option as it is impersonal and completely secure. However, do be aware that you may only access it when the bank is open, so do not store anything that you need in an emergency.

Some people choose to keep their backup documents with a friend or relative. Make sure you trust the person thoroughly and do not leave them with the key to your box.

In the event of flood damage, SERVPRO is on hand to help. Our IICRC-certified technicians have the necessary tools and skills to clean and dry your home and even freeze-dry essential books and papers. This process, called lyophilization, takes specialized equipment and skills.

For help with flood cleanup in Lake Grove, Forest Highland, Oak Creek and surrounding areas, call SERVPRO of Lake Oswego / West Linn at (503) 635-6233 today.

Commercial Water Damage From Sewage Backup in Your Marylhurst Business

Commercial Commercial Water Damage From Sewage Backup in Your Marylhurst Business Marylhurst Calls on SERVPRO for Contaminated Water Removal from Businesses

SERVPRO Mitigates Contaminated Water Damage Safely

Your manufacturing plant in Marylhurst always needs to be running in tip-top shape to keep up with daily operations and ensure that everyone stays safe. A sewer backup can not only create a halt to operations, but it creates a lot of water damage which must be cleaned up right away before any more damage occurs.

Commercial water damage and water extraction is not a task which should be taken on by you alone. There can be many variables, depending on what is water damaged in your Marylhurst building, and with a sewage leak the water itself is contaminated and needs to be handled carefully. SERVPRO staff can come to your rescue, as we have the training needed to understand how to handle these situations correctly to keep everyone safe and get your building dry again.

Where sewage water is involved, we have to be concerned about biohazards, which may cause health effects. Pathogens are treated with specific protocols to ensure the safety of both workers and other individuals.

Infectious waste includes any water which could have organisms that make a health threat to workers and occupants. These dangerous waters include not only sewage but also condensation from air conditioners and floodwaters. Even a clean water source can pose a problem if the water is left in the structure for a long time.

SERVPRO technicians treat sewage as high infectious waste material. These sources can contain tetanus, cholera, polio, typhoid, hepatitis, and various other infectious diseases. Besides living organisms, sewage can also emit methane gas and other sewer gasses that are harmful to breathe in.

To protect ourselves, we wear appropriate personal protective equipment while we work in your building including chemical resistant gloves, a respirator, splash goggles, rubber boots, and a full-body suit. We also set up a containment area to stop the spread of infectious waste while we are moving materials and equipment into and out of the building.

An EPA registered disinfectant is sprayed on all waste material and surfaces exposed to the water. We allow for dwell time listed on the label before we begin working in the building as well and reapply the disinfectant after we remove all of the waste material. This waste material is not dumped in the street or storm drain, but removed to a designated site.

SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/West Linn disposes of any waste properly when we are done cleaning and drying your structure so that it is entirely safe again. Contact us at (503) 635-6233 when your manufacturing plant in Stafford, Lake Oswego, or West Linn has suffered from a sewage backup.

Why is Professional Water Removal in West Linn Necessary?

11/10/2017 (Permalink)

Water Damage Why is Professional Water Removal in West Linn Necessary? Flooding and water damage are definitely an unwelcome sight. Contact SERVPRO for remediation and restoration services quickly for best results.

SERVPRO Quickly Remediates Water Damage After Flooding in Your Home

A flooded house is not a pleasing sight for a homeowner by any means. If your West Linn property has stagnant water on it, removing it is the first thing you can do toward restoring the damage.

If the stagnant water is not removed efficiently and promptly, it can cause significant damage to both your property and potentially, your health. Here at SERVPRO, we have a team of skilled professionals who can help in water removal from your West Linn property to minimize damage and start the restoration process.

Why hire professional services for water removal?
Water extraction is a critical step in damage control due to flooding. Reckless and improper water removal can leave your property susceptible to secondary damage and can even pose a health hazard. So, it is essential to seek professional help in dealing with this issue. Here at SERVPRO, our team of expert professionals is trained in dealing with water removal to minimize the scope and extent of the damage.

If pooled water is not extracted correctly, water can seep deeper into the walls, furniture, and carpeting. The moisture in such places can be a breeding ground for mold and other microbes that can pose a significant health hazard to you and your family. The mold spores in the air find such humid and warm places very conducive and start growing. Even if the logged water is removed, the increased humidity can still pose a favorable environment for these microbes to thrive.

It is essential to not only get rid of the logged water but also reduce the humidity as soon as possible. At SERVPRO, we use professional grade dehumidifiers and driers to achieve this task. Our technicians focus on getting rid of the water as quickly and as thoroughly as possible. We also ensure that the chances of secondary damage due to excess moisture in walls and floor are minimized as much as possible.

It can be tempting to attempt removing water on your own, but avoid doing it. SERVPRO professionals are trained and have years of experience in dealing with suctioning off standing water in various scenarios. You do not want to worsen an already dangerous situation by doing something you are not supposed to do.

Remember, here at SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/ West Linn; our experts are committed to helping you get the situation under control as soon as possible. Call today at (503) 635-6233 to talk to one of our representatives and schedule an inspection.

Flood Damage Affects Personal Belongings in Marylhurst Area Apartments

10/25/2017 (Permalink)

Storm Damage Flood Damage Affects Personal Belongings in Marylhurst Area Apartments Apartment buildings get flooded just like houses. If your apartment suffers a flooding disaster, contact SERVPRO for consultation and mitigation.

SERVPRO Technicians Tackle BOTH Small and Large Scale Flooding Situations

Too much rain at one time can bring flood conditions straight to your doorstep, and beyond. The belongings of apartment dwellers in Marylhurst can become heavily damaged by flooding whenever this occurs.

When residents see rising waters near their residence, red flags regarding flood damage in Marylhurst should signal caution and steps to protect family and valuables. Moving things to higher levels of your home, even if this means placing items on bookshelves or inside cabinets, can save many things from destruction. There are other things you can do to help minimize damage to your belongings.

Increased humidity occurs throughout a dwelling when a flooding event happens. Even if your apartment's location is not on the ground floor, elevated humidity can become a problem. Placing items sensitive to moisture or changes in humidity inside airtight containers or plastic bags can protect them. You can protect photo albums and loose film by keeping humidity away from them. Use this as only a temporary solution, however, because many plastic bags do allow moisture to enter at an extremely slow rate. After we have restored your apartment's humidity back to normal, you should remove these items from the plastic bags.

When belongings do become damaged by flooding, SERVPRO professionals use the Esporta Cleaning system. Clothing, leather items, stuffed toys, sporting equipment, and a lot more no longer face being thrown away. We can save your items through cleaning and elimination of the particles, including pathogens, that flooding deposits.

We know you might have little control over your landlord's actions regarding the restoration of your apartment building, but if you must move to another location, you can do so with clean, non-contaminated belongings. We do everything possible to make it “Like it never even happened” so your life can continue moving forward once more.

If your apartment escaped damage by being upstairs and you decide to remain there, we can install a dehumidifier for you. This can keep humidity at a healthy level for you, but we still recommend keeping windows open whenever weather permits. If your landlord chooses to mitigate the damage below your floor, you might only temporarily require a dehumidification unit.

No matter what kind of flood damage your apartment suffers, SERVPRO of Lake Oswego / West Linn can help you. Our experts receive extensive training and become certified by the IICRC. We believe that no job is too small or unimportant for professional mitigation. Call us at (503) 635-6233 so we can help you protect your belongings from current and developing damage.

How Spores Enter and Cause Mold Damage in Marylhurst Homes

10/18/2017 (Permalink)

Mold Remediation How Spores Enter and Cause Mold Damage in Marylhurst Homes Mold spores can enter your home through open windows, your pets' fur, and even on your clothing and shoes.

Let SERVPRO Tackle Your Mold Issue Before it Gets Out of Control

Mold spores are the reproductive unit of fungus, and they are microscopic making them unable to see with the naked eye. Spores travel throughout Marylhurst homes and find new places to settle and grow, thus giving rise to the visible black or green colonies that are the bane of any householder. SERVPRO customers often ask us how fungus enters Marylhurst homes and what to do about it.

Mold damage occurs in Marylhurst homes due to spores entering the building and finding suitable places to grow into a mycelium, which is the vegetative part of a fungal colony. Because the fungus appears throughout nature and the spores are microscopic, it is effortless for them to enter homes undetected.

Spores enter your home in many ways:

•Through open doors and windows.

•Your pets’ fur

•Your clothes, shoes, and boots

•Heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems

It is not possible to prevent mold getting into your house. After all, you cannot see the spores so you cannot stop them – and it is not practical to always close your windows, or never enter or leave your home!

Because you cannot stop mold entering your dwelling, it is crucial to reduce the risk of it setting up colonies when it arrives. The fungus munches on all kinds of natural materials including wood, cotton, and leather, which means there are many food sources within a typical house. However, mold also needs moisture for growth, so by reducing moisture, you give spores fewer opportunities to set up new mycelium.

SERVPRO is on hand to tackle any fungal problems you have. Our IICRC-certified technicians check your house thoroughly, including hidden corners, behind or under cabinetry, and inside ventilation and air conditioner systems. We use moisture probes and penetrating moisture meters to give you an accurate assessment of damp levels throughout each room.

Our goal is twofold: Remove visible growth, and reduce moisture to discourage regrowth. We use dehumidifiers to lower humidity, and we monitor levels every step of the way. You can rest assured that we do not stop until our drying goal is reached.

For help with fungus in Marylhurst, Lake Grove, Oak Creek, and surrounding areas call SERVPRO of Lake Oswego / West Linn at (503) 635-6233 today.

Commercial Commercial Water Damage in a Lake Oswego Restaurant SERVPRO Helps Lake Oswego Restaurants Remain Open During Water Damaging Events

SERVPRO Helps Food Service Businesses After Water Intrusion

Flooding in Lake Oswego can cause much damage if the water remains too long. A rapid response means lower costs to owners, which makes them and their insurance companies happy.

At SERVPRO, we understand for a Lake Oswego business; commercial water damage is a double threat. When it happens in a restaurant, that means that every cook, waiter, dishwasher, and cashier is now at risk as well. They face the decision to wait for restoration to be finished and hope unemployment covers their rent or try to find another job. Our goal is to get the doors reopened as fast as possible, so no one has to make that decision or even worry about it.

We start with an inspection that tells us how many people we need and the tools to use. If the business owner sends us pictures of the disaster, we can arrive with commercial grade water pumps enough equipment to start removing standing water and begin lowering the structure’s humidity level within minutes.

Once we have the water pumped out, SERVPRO technicians use two more tools to finish drying floors and carpets. For hard surfaces like kitchens, we use long-handled squeegees to push water off and outside the structure. For carpets, we deploy water extraction wands. These devices remove any excess water without harming the nape or the individual fibers.

If the flood water came from a backed up sewer line or a damaged toilet, then there is a risk of contaminated water. SERVPRO maintains an extensive inventory of anti-bacterial cleaners that kill contaminants but are safe to use in food preparation and storage areas. Depending on the size of the facility, we can remove water and clean the structure from just a few days to two weeks.

Restoring your business takes time, but it also has to be done correctly. SERVPRO of Lake Oswego / West Linn is proud to serve our neighbors and fellow business owners in Oregon. We have helped people through burst pipes and other disasters for decades and remain just as dedicated as we were twenty years ago. To schedule an inspection or one of our clean-up services, call (503) 635-6233 today.

Smoke & Soot Effects from Wildfires in the Lake Oswego Region

9/6/2017 (Permalink)

Fire Damage Smoke & Soot Effects from Wildfires in the Lake Oswego Region Wildfires Meet Their Match with SERVPRO Smoke & Fire Restoration Services

SERVPRO Offers Remedies for Grappling with Wildfire Damages

Up and down the Cascades, and most recently in the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon watches as wildfires ignite and spread, helped by strong westward winds. In all, over two dozen named fires burn in Oregon and Washington. Some areas near Lake Oswego have been evacuated, and others are on alert, orders to leave homes held for now but ready to issue depending on the success of firefighting efforts and the movement of the fires.

Hundreds of thousands of acres burning, and no help from Mother Nature can place your Lake Oswego home in danger of fire damage. Wildfire in the area makes residents feel powerless and frustrated, but wildfire that attacks your home is a devastation approached only be a few natural disasters. We are on high alert, ready to assist the businesses and residents of our community if property damage from the fast moving fires happens.

SERVPRO offers practical assistance when your home is in the path of a wildfire or just the thick smoke and tenacious soot carpeting our area. Lining up the professionals from our franchise to clean up soot and deal with smoke damage is a smart move as restoring a property damaged by fire residues is simply not a do it yourself proposition.

Our technicians receive IICRC approved training, preparing them for the whole gamut of best practice cleaning methods when soot and smoke residues choke your home. Smoke and soot mitigation is almost an art, our crews carefully choosing the proper techniques depending on the characteristics of the soiling present in your home.

Light dustings of smoke respond well to dry sponges, dusters, and HEPA filtered vacuums. Stickier coatings need a spray and wipe or scrub with an abrasive tool or cleanser. Certified technicians on our SERVPRO fire damage teams know how to apply pressure to remove stubborn soot without damaging the underlying surface. We have a wide inventory of SERVPRO cleaning products, sufficient to tackle any cleanup.

Fire damage nearly always requires a course of deodorization attempts before the restoration is complete. The SERVPRO approach includes removing the charred materials and cleaning and sealing the burned or sooty areas. If that does not obliterate the smell, our crews use airborne methods, including straightforward sprays and more sophisticated thermal fogging, where recreating burning conditions can neutralize odor bearing particles. A safe and efficient option involves the use of hydroxyl generators, a technology that uses hydroxyl radicals produced by certain wavelengths of UV light to eliminate persistent odors. In homes empty of people, pets, and plants we can place ozone machines to break up the odor causing compounds.

If your home suffers from smoke and soot damage traceable to the wildfires currently raging in Oregon, SERVPRO of Lake Oswego / West Linn offers solutions that are effective and practical. Call us at (503) 635-6233 to schedule a professional assessment and fire damage restoration plan.

Try These Steps To Prevent Water Damage To Your Lake Oswego Basement

Water Damage Try These Steps To Prevent Water Damage To Your Lake Oswego Basement Water Proofing and Sump Pump Protect Lake Oswego Homes from Water Damage

Tips from SERVPRO to Stop Water Intrusion into Your Home

As a homeowner, you want to avoid water damage to your basement if you can. Water in your basement can cause a range of problems including damage to the structure and of course harm to any stored items. Water leakage into your Lake Oswego basement also increases the risk of mold growth.

There are many causes of water damage to your Lake Oswego basement. SERVPRO recommends homeowners be mindful of the following risks.

Aggressive tree roots. Some trees, such as silver maples, have aggressive root systems that might compromise the foundation of your home and cause a basement leak. Get some information on the trees in your garden and make sure they are not a problem. When planting new trees, plant aggressive species at least 20 feet from your home.

Sump pump faults and debris. If you have a sump pump, check it regularly for debris and faults. A broken sump pump is a quick way to a flooded basement. If you suffer regular power outages, consider getting a generator, so your sump pump keeps working even if the power goes out.

Sewers and septic tanks. Just like sump pumps, damaged, clogged, or broken sewers and septic tanks all put your basement at risk of water leaks. Get them checked out regularly. There is the added health hazard of contaminated water.

Clogged and overflowing gutters and downpipes. Your gutters and downpipes have a job to do – and if they get clogged and thus are not fit for purpose, you are looking at a big potential problem. Keep your gutters and downpipes clear of debris at all times and be sure to check them regularly. The downspouts should channel rainwater at least three feet away from the foundation.

Basement windows. If you have windows in your basement, there is a risk of leaks. Inspect your windows and make sure they are structurally sound and do not let water in. A silicone or latex tube of caulk can prevent water seepage.

Basement cracks. Cracks in the walls or foundation of your basement put it at risk of leaks. Keep an eye out for any cracks and if spotted, call SERVPRO for patching and waterproofing.

Incidents do happen. Should you find yourself with a wet basement, call SERVPRO at once. We equip our IICRC-certified technicians with pumps, extraction wands, air movers, dehumidifiers and moisture detection equipment to handle any leak. For crawlspace foundations we can offer an encapsulation program to mitigate water and moisture intrusion.

Fire Damage Threatens Commercial Sweet Spot in Lake Oswego

8/21/2017 (Permalink)

Commercial Fire Damage Threatens Commercial Sweet Spot in Lake Oswego Call SERVPRO for quick and professional fire remediation to get your business back to serving up sweet treats to your customers.

SERVPRO can help after an oven causes fire damage in your bakery or restaurant

Commercial ovens are the workhorses of restaurants and bakeries, taken for granted by business owners and the public they serve. Malfunctions or operator error can cause a commercial oven fire that may have wide-ranging effects on your business and surrounding buildings. Be ready with a plan of action that includes a reputable fire damage restoration expert.

Your bakery offers sweet treats to residents of the Lake Oswego area until fire damage shuts down your ovens. An improperly calibrated sensor allowed heat levels to rise, incinerating a batch of pastries. Smoke had poured through your preparation and customer service areas before the sprinkler system extinguished the fire. Sooty water, flame damage, and a horrible smell all need professional attention immediately.

SERVPRO trains its commercial fire damage technicians to respond swiftly and appropriately to exactly this type of devastation. We know you cannot afford to shut down your business for even a few days without serious negative consequences. Our goal is to devise a plan that quickly and systematically completes the steps necessary to clean up the area, repair the equipment, and eliminate the fire-related odors that are far from enticing.

Our crew takes on the water damage first, using powerful extractors to remove standing water and residual moisture. Cautious at all times, we check to make sure the electronic equipment of a modern commercial bakery poses no risk of shock as we proceed. Air movers and dehumidifiers reduce the moisture in floors and walls as our crew turns to cleaning sooty surfaces with carefully chosen products approved for use around food prepping areas.

Evaluation of any food in the pantries is crucial as the heat and smoke can make edibles unfit for consumption. We work with your insurer throughout the process to limit your business’s liability. Finally, SERVPRO deodorization experts focus on eliminating smoky and unappetizing smells. Using a four-step process approved by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, Restoration, and Certification (IICRC), our team neutralizes the odor particles floating in the air after removing the burned materials and cleaning off smoky residues. We complete the job with sprays or thermal fogging, leaving your bakery ready to share delicious aromas once again.

SERVPRO of Lake Oswego / West Linn awaits your call for help with the trained technicians and equipment that puts your bakery back in business. Call (503) 635-6233 to schedule a consultation as soon as the fire is out.

High Winds And Heavy Rains Mean Flood Damage In West Linn

8/6/2017 (Permalink)

Storm Damage High Winds And Heavy Rains Mean Flood Damage In West Linn West Linn Homeowners Rely on SERVPRO for Cleanup After Storms and Floodings

West Linn Storm Damage Gets Help from SERVPRO

Even well-maintained homes quickly become overwhelmed with rainwater when trees or other objects fall because of straight line winds. A previously rain-tight dwelling becomes a sieve, and water rushes in through holes in the roof, exterior walls, and even the foundation. SERVPRO secures the building and gets right to work after the storm.

A tree takes out the back porch and part of the kitchen, causing flood damage to the West Linn bungalow you call home. In addition to significant destruction to the exterior, water is flowing fast into your foundation. Our full-service responders can help with the many tasks ahead.

SERVPRO swiftly protects your property from more water incursion by boarding up broken windows and doors and tarping other areas. Then we get right to work on the several inches of water standing in your basement. The chances are good that your electricity is out, so our truck mounted submersible pumps, and water extractors provide the power. Flood water can contain all manner of contaminants, so we collect it and dispose of it properly according to local regulations.

Any heating and cooling systems or major appliances like laundry machines or dehumidifiers located in the flooded area undergo evaluation for safe operation as the waters recede. If furnishings or electronics are soaked, SERVPRO crews suggest they be moved to a dry staging area like a garage for further review. Carpeting must be dried out immediately if there is any hope of it surviving, so members of our crew remove the padding and create air flow above and below the carpet with heavy duty air movers. High-efficiency dehumidifiers join the equipment lineup to get the moisture content down. In the case of contaminated water dousing the floor materials, then discarding is the safe remedy.

The SERVPRO crew uses sophisticated moisture monitoring probes and scanners to find any areas where water is hiding. If water built up behind a finished wall or in cinder block cells we drain it out by drilling holes in mortar lines or removing pieces of paneling or drywall. All interior building materials receive a thorough assessment. Soaked and crumbling areas may be removed and replaced while other less porous materials are restored.

Getting the trained technicians from SERVPRO of Lake Oswego / West Linn at your home immediately after the flood damage gives you the best chance for speedy restoration. We also endured the storm as we are members of your community, so we are ready for action at your call to us at (503) 635-6233.

Remediating Mold Damage in Your Elderly Parents' Lake Oswego Home

7/31/2017 (Permalink)

Mold Remediation Remediating Mold Damage in Your Elderly Parents' Lake Oswego Home Lake Oswego Mold Cleanup and Remediation Is Handled Professionally by SERVPRO

SERVPRO Offers a Professional Polite Approach to Mold Remediation

As our parents age, they want to retain their independence, but at the same time, we want to make sure their needs are taken care of adequately. Finding a happy middle-ground can be difficult at times, but doing so is essential to their health.

Family homes located in Lake Oswego are just as likely to have mold damage as any other location in the country. In homes occupied by the elderly, particular attention needs to be given to certain situations. Just as we check that their door and window locks are working to keep out intruders, we also need to make sure that the growth of mold, mildew, and other microbes are always at a minimum.

At SERVPRO, we know that your family is important to you, and when you have older parents, making sure they are happy while secure is not taken lightly. They are not as able to check on things in their home as they once did, so when problems develop, structures in the home can deteriorate much more rapidly than they might have a decade ago. Mold can come about because of torn roofing shingles or leaking pipes that are soon forgotten about after being discovered.

We use hygrometers to detect elevated levels of moisture that increase the chances of mold growth in a home. Detecting fungal activity is easy once we know where its source of moisture is located. Containing it and cleaning an area of fungal activity can seem easy to complete as a D-I-Y project. However, any area larger than ten square feet should only be handled by a mold remediation team. Bleach, a traditional means of combating mold, has been found not to be ineffective as an exterminating agent but may actually increase its growth.

Knowing that your parents may not want strangers in their home, we want to assure you that our professional technicians are trained in IICRC methods of remediation and microbial infestation removal, insured, bonded, and highly experienced in both large and small sites.

We also know from our experiences with our own parents, to always be respectful and courteous to yours, and to answer their questions in ways that can help alleviate their concerns. We always communicate with our customers, so our work remains within a comfortable range, and as fast as possible to limit inconveniences and disturbances.

If mold damage is a concern for you regarding your parents' home, call us at (503) 635-6233. Owned and operated locally, SERVPRO of Lake Oswego / West Linn is connected to our community through friends and family. We are always here for you, no matter when you call us.

Dinner Party Fire Damage Disaster In Lake Oswego

7/22/2017 (Permalink)

Fire Damage Dinner Party Fire Damage Disaster In Lake Oswego A Flame is No Match for SERVPRO Fire Damage Restoration in Lake Oswego

Lake Oswego Homes Benefits from SERVPRO Fire-Damaging Cleanups

Cooking accidents are the most common reason fire breaks out in a residence. Stoves, microwaves, ovens, and a range of plug-in appliances all contribute to the prevalence of kitchen fires. Although the fire may be confined to the kitchen, damage often spreads throughout the house, requiring the help of the restoration professionals from SERVPRO to resolve.

All it takes is a moment or two of inattention and fire damages your Lake Oswego kitchen. Celebrating a graduation with family and friends, you were pulled into a conversation in the dining room while a saute pan you had just deglazed with a bit of white wine boiled over and the contents caught on fire. By the time you got the fire extinguisher operating the nearby cabinets were scorched, oven mitts by the stove were aflame, and the hood had flames licking at the fan vents. Once the fire department departed, we got the call to help with the mess.

A kitchen fire flares quickly and has plenty of fuel to intensify the blaze. Even when extinguished promptly the cleanup is beyond the skills of the homeowner or a general cleaning firm. SERVPRO specializes in residential fire damage restoration, committed to assisting our clients only with technicians highly trained in industry approved techniques and the use of cutting-edge recovery equipment.

Upon arrival, our project manager ensures the HVAC system is turned off and the vents covered so as not to continue circulating smoke and soot throughout your home. Eventually, the ductwork receives an inspection and cleaning, sealing, or both, performed. An assessment of other areas reveals the priority list for cleaning order and the type of equipment and products needed. Cooking fires usually contain fatty substances that combust into sticky, greasy soot. A spray and wipe technique is most often used, although if the fire burned hot and deposited a lacquer-like substance on surfaces, solvents and abrasive scrubbers may be indicated, to be employed with care to avoid secondary damage.

The smoke and soot almost always migrate at least to neighboring rooms, so the furnishings and carpeting in your dining and living rooms undergo evaluation. Greasy residues on fibers and fabric must be cleaned by professionals educated in the unique safeguards necessary to remove rather than smear and worsen the fire damage. Window coverings may need dry cleaning and blinds profit from an immersion or ultrasonic treatment performed by certified SERVPRO workers.

Food fires create an odor that takes the appetite away, but SERVPRO IICRC certified technicians deodorization specialists use one or more methods to eradicate the lingering smells. Removing the burned food and pans helps, but we may need to use sealants, sprays, or thermal fogging to get rid of the unpleasant aromas completely. Count on our persistence, and contact us if the odor recurs as sometimes treatments get better results if combined or repeated.

A kitchen fire is no match for SERVPRO of Lake Oswego / West Linn. Call (503) 635-6233 24 hours a day to set up an inspection to restore your home after the unfortunate events.

Lake Oswego Area Smoke and Soot Cleanup

11/11/2016 (Permalink)

Fire Damage Lake Oswego Area Smoke and Soot Cleanup Smoke and Soot Damage Can Cause a Pervasive Odor in Your Lake Oswego Area

Smoke and soot is very intrusive and can penetrate various cavities within your home, causing hidden damage and odor. Our smoke damage expertise and experience allows us to inspect and accurately assess the extent of the damage to develop a comprehensive plan of action.

Smoke and soot facts:

  • Hot smoke migrates to cooler areas and upper levels of a building.
  • Smoke flows around plumbing systems, seeping through the holes used by pipes to go from floor to floor.
  • The type of smoke may greatly affect the restoration process.

Different Types of Smoke

There are two different types of smoke–dry and wet. As a result, there are different types of soot residue after a fire. Before restoration begins, SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/West Linn will test the soot to determine which type of smoke damage occurred. The cleaning procedures will then be based on the information identified during pretesting. Here is some additional information:

Wet Smoke – Plastic and Rubber

  • Different Types of Smoke
  • Low heat, smoldering, pungent odor, sticky, smeary. Smoke webs are more difficult to clean.

Dry Smoke – Paper and Wood

  • Fast burning, high temperatures, heat rises therefore smoke rises.

Protein Fire Residue – Produced by evaporation of material rather than from a fire

  • Virtually invisible, discolors paints and varnishes, extreme pungent odor.

Our Fire Damage Restoration Services

Since each smoke and fire damage situation is a little different, each one requires a special solution tailored for the specific conditions.  We have the equipment, expertise, and experience to restore your fire and smoke damage.  We will also treat your family with empathy, respect and your home with care.

LP Building Products, along with Portland Fire & Rescue and SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/West Linn conducted a Live Burn demonstration at Colwood Golf Center in Portland on October 13, 2016.  The purpose of the demonstration was to show a side-by-side comparison of LP® FlameBlock® Fire-Rated OSB Sheathing vs. regular OSB sheathing.  The demonstration highlights the superior qualities of LP® FlameBlock® Fire-Rated OSB Sheathing which is ICC-certified, has a Class A and 30-Minute Flame Spread Rating (ASTM E84, UL 723), combines flame-spread resistance and burn-through resistance and has 15-Minute Thermal Barrier Protection (UBC 26-2).

Portland Fire & Rescue was in charge of conducting, monitoring and completing the burn and utilized the opportunity as a training exercise.  SERVPRO of Lake Oswego/West Linn, a leading provider of Fire Damage Restoration, was asked to participate in the burn event and assist in the cleanup and disposal of the charred remnants of the two structures after the demonstration was finished.  Despite the rainy weather, many LP clients and members of the property insurance industry were in attendance to view the demonstration.

Does Your Lake Oswego Home Have A Mold Problem?

9/8/2016 (Permalink)

Mold Remediation Does Your Lake Oswego Home Have A Mold Problem? Mold can spread through a home in as little as 48 hours.

Microscopic mold spores naturally occur almost everywhere, both outdoors and indoors. This makes it impossible to remove all mold from a home or business. Therefore, mold remediation reduces the mold spore count back to its natural or baseline level. Some restoration businesses advertise “mold removal” and even guarantee to remove all mold, which is a fallacy. Consider the following mold facts:

  • Mold is present almost everywhere, indoors and outdoors.
  • Mold spores are microscopic and float along in the air and may enter your home through windows, doors, or AC/heating systems or even hitch a ride indoors on your clothing or a pet.
  • Mold spores thrive on moisture. Mold spores can quickly grow into colonies when exposed to water. These colonies may produce allergens and irritants.
  • Before mold remediation can begin, any sources of water or moisture must be addressed. Otherwise, the mold may return.
  • Mold often produces a strong, musty odor and can lead you to possible mold problem areas.
  • Even higher-than-normal indoor humidity can support mold growth. Keep indoor humidity below 45 percent.

If your home or business has a mold problem, we can inspect and assess your property and use our specialized training, equipment, and expertise to remediate your mold infestation.
